Event Details

Nantucket’s history is like none other. Seemingly frozen in time, the island’s rich history has created an environment full of iconography. From its cobblestone streets lined with whaling-era gray-shingled homes to a harbor and town center brimming with activity, the “Grey Lady” is an artist’s paradise.

This drawing workshop explores the iconic sites of Nantucket through drawing. Each day, we’ll visit a different location in and around Nantucket Town to capture the spirit and uniqueness of this wonderful island on paper.

We’ll first explore drawing in practical terms by discussing what materials are needed and how to use them. We’ll then review drawings by famous artists to learn the ways they handled their materials, subject matters, and compositions so that we may develop our own unique approach. Short, introductory drawing exercises will lead into longer studies and more finished drawings.

All skill levels are welcome! The goal of this workshop is to provide novices and seasoned drawers with an opportunity to discover and refine their own unique skills while enjoying this magical island. Class meets each day at 9:00 a.m. in front of the Pacific National Bank located at the top of Main Street.

Tuition: Member $225, Non-member $250.
