Come see all the print studio has to offer. Each week you will learn a different technique, and learn how you can use it in combination with each other. Visual Arts Center, 24 Amelia Dr. nantucketarts.org

Session 1, July 13–Extend the expression of your plein air sketches and studio drawings into drypoint etchings. Working from these visual notes and using clear plastic plates and an etching needle, multiple and unique images may be created. Color may be combined with the characteristic line quality of drypoint etching by using watercolor, water soluble crayons, and water soluble pencils.

Session 2, July 20–Multiple plate monoprints:  create several plates that may be printed over one another to create a layered image.  Techniques for the carborundum plate, drypoint and relief rainbow roll inking will be taught.  Stencils and shaped plates will be explored.

Session 3, July 27 –Monoprint collage and construction.  Take your prints to a new dimension by constructing bas relief and standing constructions from printed collagraphs and monoprints.  Sequential and folding formats will be explored; for example, tangrams and contiguous prints.

Tuition: Member $50, Non-member $70. Materials $10.

All weekly sessions Member $120, Non-member $140. Materials $30
