Learning Lab – Learn how to make these traditional folded paper stars out of plain white paper. You can use them as tree decorations or as package ties for the holidays. These handmade paper stars have been found in various forms through all cultures worldwide. They are often referred to as Moravian Stars, Christmas Stars, German Star, Froebel’s Stars along with other many other names. Folded stars appear to have originated in northern Europe a long time ago where they were traditionally made with white paper. These crafty works of art are not really origami, but closer to a form of basketry. The stars were originally hung outside to decorate evergreen and shrubbery during the holiday season.
